Built as a private residence for W.G. Bowdoin a Senior Partner at Alex Brown and Sons of Baltimore, reported to be the first fireproof residence south of New York. The building was designed by Wyatt and Nolting, and built by George Blake.

The building was designed by Wyatt and Nolting, and built by George Blake.The residence was sold to local design firm J.G. Valiant & Co who maintained the interior of the residence and added a four-story addition to the rear of the building, including a freight elevator, loading dock and a large basement. This space is now used by The Brewer’s Art for fermentation, grain storage, milling, and office space.

Bay College took over the use of the building as classrooms and administrative offices.

Antioch College used the space as a satellite campus into the 80’s.

D’Aleo and Associates purchased the building and returned to using it as an architectural and design office space.
